قال رجل من البخلاء لأولاده : اشتروا لي لحماً ، فاشتروا ، فأمر بطبخة ، فلما استوى أكله جميعه حتى لم يبق في يده إلا عظمة وعيون أولاده ترمقه ، قال : لن أعطي أحدا ً منكم هذه العظمة حتى يحسن وصف أكلها ، فقال ولده الأكبر : أشمها يا أبت وأمصها حتى لا ادع للذر فيها مقيلا ً ، قال : لست بصاحبها ، فقال الأوسط : ألوكها يا أبت وألحسها حتى لا يدرى أحد لعام هي أم لعامين ، قال لست بصاحبها ! فقال الأصغر : أنا يا أبت أمصها ثم أدقها وأسفها فقال الأب صاحبها وهي لك زادك الله معرفة وحزما ً !
