The lunar monthes depends on the rotation of moon around earth .. And it takes from 28 to 30 days ..
The begining of the lunar month is announced after seeing the cresent .. And this differs from one country to another even from two cities in the same country due to the angle of vision
So at ur country .. They saw the cresent yesterday .. But at us we didn't
So ur first day was today ..while we will be tomorrow :)

Because at us ..the cresent didn't appear
So tomorrow (10- july) is consudered the first :p
